2 The simple Past It describes actions or situations that began and ended in the past. -I studied at a Japanese university. -He didn’t like math. -Did you study math last semester? -Did she answer the phone?

3 The Past Continuous It describes : activities that were happening or in progress in the recent past. activities during a period time in the past. - I was watching the news a moment ago. -John was studying in the library at the time of the fire. -My friends were working on the project all summer. -She wasn’t studying. -Were they studying then?

4 Information questions with the simple past and the past continuous (was-were-did) 1- Bill was sleeping at 6:30. 2- Jim called Bill in the morning. 3- She jumped under the table. 4- They were watching TV when lighting hit the house.

5 Used to Used to+ simple form of verb describes activities that were true or happened regularly in the past but that no longer exist now. - I used to live in a small town. (past situation) - My family used to rent a cabin every summer. (past habits) - He often used to play tennis on Monday. (Repeated actions in the past)

6 Questions with “used to” Did you use to study every night? Did he use to travel a lot ? Where did he use to work? (Page 35- 14 practice) Use used to with the following sentences: -He had his own room when he was young. -He didn’t have a lot of homework. -His father woke him up for school every morning.

8 The simple future Be- going to = future plans and intentions. -We are going to have a party next week. -I’m going to take math this semester. -Are they going to leave soon? -Is he going to study tonight?

9 The simple future Will -Intentions: I will work harder from now on. -offers: Ali will find some books for you. -Predictions: I’ll get better grades next semester. -Promises: I’ll find a solution. Don’t worry. I will not say that again. -Request: Will you help mw with my work?

10 Use will or be going to: 1- You look cold. I……………………(get) you s coat. 2- A: ………….you…………(quit) your job? B: I want to quit but I don’t have money. ………you……..(lend) me 10.000?

11 The future continuous tense It describes actions that will be in progress in the future. At this time tomorrow, I’ll be taking a test. A week from today, we’ll be flying home. We will not be attending meetings until noon. Will it be working by then?
