2 Homework  Turn in (if not turned in during previous class):  Page 260  Levels of moral reasoning chart  Grade 10 Steps chapter 3 practices  Review tests are due in two classes

3 Conflicts of Justice  Quickwrite:  How can literature or artwork combat injustice?

4 One Word of Truth  As we read the article, annotate for:  Thesis  Instances in which the power of literature is mentioned  Revisit your quickwrite  Add to your quickwrite, using the ideas in the article to further support your ideas.

5 Guernica by Pablo Picasso  As we view the art piece, fill in the OPTIC chart on page 265.

7 Guernica  Read the article about Guernica on pages 267- 268.  Review your OPTIC chart and add details and analysis. The article should help you deepen your analysis.

8  Write an interpretation of Guernica and its persuasive properties.  You can rely on historical context or only on the image itself.  Consider ethos, pathos, and logos when analyzing the persuasive properties.  Write a short essay reflecting on the issues discussed today.  Consider the genres discussed this activity. How does each protest injustice? Which is the most persuasive and why? (What appeals does the author/artist use?)
