Reading DNA  DNA in every organism is made up of the same four bases, guanine, cytosine, thymine and adenine. (G,C,T,A).  Guanine always pairs with cytosine, and thymine with adenine.  One small shift in the pairing of these amino acid bases can cause a huge change in a persons make up.

Mutations  Mutations result when the DNA polymerase makes a mistake, which happens about once every 100,000,000 bases.  Mutations in DNA sequences generally occur through one of two processes:  DNA damage from environmental agents such as ultraviolet light (the sun), nuclear radiation or certain chemicals like those found in medical drugs.  Mistakes that occur when a cell copies its DNA in preparation for cell division, and shifts the bases.

How To Detect Mutations  In order to find the source of a genetic mutation, or to detect it before it takes effect, a person needs to have their entire human genome detected and evaluated.  This is known as the human genome project, and the individuals genome is compared to the average of the population to detect for mutations and abnormalities.

What We Did  In order to simulate this surgery/project we programmed a robot to read a gene strand and detect for abnormalities.  These genes are simulated by different colors, the master robot reads the colors and sends it to the slave robot who will say if the gene is mutated or not

Master Robot The master has two light sensors. One for following the line and one for detecting the colors. It will send the color information to the slave.

Slave Robot The slave receives the message that the master will send and compares it to a set genome.

Evaluation  Overall everything worked except for the Bluetooth  We were able to connect the devices but not able to run programs correctly  I blame this mostly on the actual Bluetooth program blocks that do not work correctly
