2 Latest Addition As you know, I have a collection of over 300 frogs They are in all sizes shapes and colors Some are fishing, playing golf Some of them make noises or sing The Chilean 4 Eyed Frog The latest addition to my collection is – The Chilean 4 Eyed Frog

3 Latest Addition From the front, you can see an adult frog and a young frog on its back. But – from the back, you can see 2 more “eyes” on each frog.

4 Chilean 4-Eyed Frog Sitting normal the back eyes are not visible, hidden by his back legs When danger comes around the frog raises its back end The false eyes appear and the frog looks: –Like he is larger than he really is –Like he is facing a different direction These “eyes” can’t see – they are glands that shoot a poison at its enemy

5 Our Text Abijah (Abijam) is king of Judah He is the son of Rehoboam, grandson of Solomon Jeroboam II is the king of Israel There were many battles over territory and religion Israel sent some troops around behind Judah Judah saw that they were in an ambush

6 Our Text Abijah cried to the LORD for help There was a great victory for Judah Judah killed 500,000 of Israel When the enemy is sneaking up from behind – we need to be – 4-eyed frogs When the enemy is sneaking up from behind – we need to be – 4-eyed frogs

7 Lessons and Observations Some people try to look larger than they really are Some people try to look larger than they really are –Hypocrites – –Hypocrites – pray to be seen, give to be seen –Boast –Boast – brag about their righteousness –Appear to fast –Appear to fast – look like they fasted for days We need some “defense mechanism” We need some “defense mechanism” –Turtles and skunks have a defense mechanism –Some hide, some shoot poison, some have quills, others just spray stink

8 Lessons and Observations Looks are deceiving Looks are deceiving –You can’t judge a book by its cover –We must not be deceived by looks 1 Samuel 16:7 –Samuel – 1 Samuel 16:7 - But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

9 Lessons and Observations Many are like this frog: Many are like this frog: –Appear larger (more important) than they really are –Headed the other direction –Can’t see what they should see –Shoot poison at their enemies Are you what you appear to be? –Are you a Christian? –Are you headed the right direction?
