2 The Lifecycle Project is … an initiative within The Free Methodist Church in Canada’s "Church Development" department to see churches become vital and living outposts of the kingdom. "Vital" in the sense of recaptured passion, direction, and genuine excitement about the future. "Living" in the sense of changing, dynamic, feisty, and reproducing. The Lifecycle is a metaphor for the rhythms and cycles of the Spirit’s work. It’s a metaphor that marks a philosophical break from the prevailing corporate and organizational models to something much more organic: to view the church as a living, breathing organism. 5 [Planting] The soil has been prepared and new life is planted. [Seedling] That new life takes root and begins to grow. Great care must be taken to protect it from over-zealous weeding and fiddling. [Maturity] The new life is fully grown and bears fruit. [Reproduction] As with all living things the fruit’s main purpose is to feed others. Your life becomes sustenance for others. 6 So why is this such a big deal? Glad you asked... On the local church level this metaphor is forming the grid of how we view church health. Healthy churches function both formally and informally in all four areas. Growth Ministries

7 John Wesley taught that facing, overcoming, and seeing God keep his promises during these depleting times is a vital part of Christian life. The Lifecycle Project is first and foremost about encouraging established and mature churches to become “other focused”. The Lifecycle Project is also committed to encouraging the development of new life through encouraging church planting. We encourage all churches to see the cycle as a necessary and thrilling part of being a Christian and part of a Christian community.

8 M O S A I C We are all connected... The MOSAIC is published four times a year and copies are delivered to your church. Our desire is to share information about exciting things that God is doing through Canadian Free Methodists in Canada and beyond.
