2 Available Campaigns Maryland Charities – For donations from State Government employees Combined Federal Campaign – For donations from Federal Government employees United Way – Manages donations from private sector employees or individuals Donations can be designated for any 501(c)(3) charity, even if it is not a member of the United Way 2

3 Maryland Charities MASSB Foundation in its entirety has been included in the past – We missed the deadline for application for 2016 – Application for the 2017 campaign begins at the end of December – Applications are made on-line and will be due in the February timeframe 3 Instruct donors to include the county or board name to whom they wish to donate on their check or donor form Instruct donors to include the county or board name to whom they wish to donate on their check or donor form

4 Maryland Charities Requirements IRS Form 990 or COF-85 Description of Program IRS Letter Designating 501(c)(3) Status MASSB Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws Operating Budget (or Statement that MASSB does not operate on a budget) 4

5 Combined Federal Campaign MASSB Foundation is a participant in the upcoming CFC – Most Counties are included under MASSB Foundation, Chesapeake Bay Region – MASSB was previously included as part of the United Way of Central Maryland Federation Will need to apply as a local independent organization in the upcoming campaign To receive on the application timeline and process, contact megan.gregory@cbacfc.org megan.gregory@cbacfc.org Website for general information is cbacfc.org 5

6 Combined Federal Campaign Calvert, Charles, Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties can apply to the CFC under the CFC National Capital Region – Calvert County applied as an independent local organization for the 2015 campaign – On-line applications for the 2016 campaign will be available at cfcnca.org toward the end of the calendar year – To obtain information, contact Tyra.Archer@cfcnca.org Tyra.Archer@cfcnca.org 6

8 United Way United Way of Central Maryland (Anne Arundel, Baltimore City & Co., Carroll, Harford, Howard) United Way of Calvert County Benefits of being a member include: – Grants from the United Way Possible detractions – May preclude you from requesting grants from large businesses who contribute to United Way 8
