2 The Priests are a high rank in the social structure. They help to run the city through there religious beliefs. We will take you on tour of a day and a life in of a priest in ancient Egypt.

3 Like many high ranked government officials, Priest were highly respected and powerful in these ancient empires. A large amount of priest served under the pharaoh, who was the most respected, most powerful type of person in the Egyptian empire.

4 Priest had many jobs. One of these jobs was to honor there temples god or god’s. The temple god lived inside a statue in a sacred sanctuary. The priest would go through process to cleansed himself. This process included many things such as bathing in holy water three to four times a day and avoiding certain lower quality food.

5 The status of the priests of Ancient Egypt had made them very powerful, very popular, and very wealthy. Their power simply could have made an Egyptian possibly bow, or at least acknowledge, anywhere in the Egyptian empire, from a large temple to a small simple village.

6 Every Egyptian believed in afterlife. They believed that a persons body remain with his or hers sprit. The Egyptians used a method called embalming to preserve bodies from decaying. This was the job of a Priest to oversee the ritual.
