Monday, September 1, 2014 Day 1 Science Starters Sheet 1. Please have these Items on your desk. Agenda Science Notebook Science Starter: 2 Vocabulary words Velocity- Speed in a given direction Force- A push or pull on an object.
Update table of contents Page DateActivity 29 9/3 How to calculate speed & acceleration.
Speed Speed- the distance traveled divided by the time during which the motion occurred. Constant Speed- movement at a fixed distance per unit of time. The same amount of distance is covered by the object in the same amount of time at each measurement of that same interval. Instantaneous Speed- is the velocity of an object at a certain time. For example:- Suppose you are driving in a car with your father see the speedometer, its speed constantly varies, Because speedometer give speed at a particular moment of time.
Variables Expressed by Distance can be expressed in km (kilometers), mi (miles), m (meters), ft (feet). Time can be expressed in Hours, minutes, seconds, days. Speed can be expressed in m/s (meters per second), cm/s (centimeters per second), km/ hr (Kilometers per hour).
