1 #ILGive Ideas for Nonprofits Meaning | Metrics | Mobile | Matches About #ILGive: We give thanks on Thanksgiving, go to the mall on Black Friday, and browse the web on Cyber Monday. Now, we have a day dedicated to giving back. On #GivingTuesday -- December 1 --, nonprofits, families, businesses, and students around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. In Illinois, Donors Forum is coordinating this initiative, and we have one bold goal: $6 million raised by Illinois social impact organizations -- in one day. Find more at:

2 MEANING: The Heart Behind the Day Start a social media fundraising or awareness campaign. Use the #ILGive hashtag early and often! Share your story with us. Tag pictures, video, and posts with #ILGive so they can be shared statewide. Start an #Unselfie campaign. Your supporters can prompt friends to give to your #ILGive cause. Organize a volunteer project in which donors, employees, and neighbors can participate. Celebrate giving together! Get your town or city to proclaim that it will be involved in #ILGive, and that Mon., Dec. 1 is #ILGive Day! Our toolkits are the perfect resource for this! 3 METRICS: Get Your Staff and Supporters Excited! Pick an exciting goal for your organization to work toward – one that you can track. Sharing your progress will engage your staff and supporters. Does your organization need more voices to create a greater impact? Set a goal for the number of social shares from your supporters. Set a goal for the number of new donors you’d like to see give to your campaign. Then, track their giving over the next year. Need more volunteers? Set a goal for the number of volunteer hours pledged to your organization. Track pledges and follow up later. How many followed through? If your mission relies on in-kind donations, set a goal for the amount of food, clothes, etc. you want to receive. Whatever goal you choose: TRACK IT | SHARE IT | TAG IT – OFTEN, and in REAL TIME! 4 MOBILE: Make it Easy to Give! 17% of online donations made on #GivingTuesday in 2014 were made from a mobile device*. If your organization does not have a way to receive online donations, look into options that make sense for your organization. After supporters make a donation, does your platform give them the option to social share their support? If you receive online donations, is the user experience from a mobile phone or tablet good? Bad? * Blackbaud, Inc., #GivingTuesday Trends: A Closer Look at the Online Fundraising Impact in the United States. Blackbaud, Inc., 2015. Wed., 29 July 2015. 5 MATCHES: Double Your Investment! Matching grants and donations generate excitement around your campaign because supporters know they are doubling their investment! Inform your major donors, funders, and grantmakers about your #ILGive campaign as soon as possible. Invite funders to double their investment by offering a match gift or a challenge grant for Mon., Dec. 1. If you get a match, let your supporters know so they can get excited with you!
