The Botanical Garden light show was amazing and the Christmas lights around town were gorgeous. I hope you all had a very fun and exciting Christmas break, and I hope you got what you wanted. Band by: Kaylee Loya Welcome back! This year we will be covering a new concept called scales and scale karate. You may or may not know what either of those things are, but I will certainly tell you. Scale karate is when we play a scale and hopefully pass every time. Every time you pass a scale, you earn a belt (go up a level). If you get to sensei, you will get to go on a field trip. Social Studies by Kaylee Loya In this unit, we’ll start traveling to Europe. We will most likely learn about the wars, culturalism, and so much more. The countries we will go over are Russia, Germany, France, etc. We’re also going to learn about where these countries are located on the map and review political and physical maps. New Year's Resolutions By:Isaac Mcgill 3..2..1 HAPPY NEW YEAR!. Counting down the end of the year and waiting for the ball drop in time square is not the only tradition we follow for New Year's eve. Making a resolution might be the oldest tradition of celebrating the New Year. It became a part of these traditions over two millennia ago during the pre-christian age of Julius Caesar in Rome. Resolutions are goals you make for yourself at the start of the new year as a way to make positive changes in your life. Let’s see what a couple people around Greenways say will be their 2016 New Years resolution.... 6th grader Tyler Miller shared, “I want to help my mom around the house more!” 6th grade teacher Mrs. Christian confessed, “I am going to try harder to be more punctual.” What’s your New Year’s Resolution ? Winter Safety-By Katlyn Jones Winter safety is very important if you think you’re too cool for it then you’re wrong. Did you know that an additional 600-800 people die per day in the winter season, compared to the summer months? Here are some safety tips. Wear rubber soul shoes, walk slowly, and take small steps when walking on wet or icy sidewalks. Always look out for ice, you may not see it, but it is there. Bundle up this month because it’s going to get very cold and windy. When playing in the snow wear layers of clothing. Don’t forget safety is important your life depends on it. HARMONY by Skylar McCleskey We went on our tour on 12/10/15 and had lots of fun. We went to 2 banks and at one we got 2 dollar bills. Then we went to 3 nursing homes and we also took away 1 song and added 2 more songs we had lots of fun and we are ready to do it again.
