2 JAIME ROYAL "ROBBIE" ROBERTSON July 5,1943 in Toronto Canada. His father was from Toronto and his mother from Mohawk descent. He raised on Six Nation Reservations He started playing guitar at young age. Was in band from 1960 – 1976 Both the band and himself were in Canada Hall of fame. Wrote Songs for Popular movies. In 2015 he wrote his first book Hiawatha and the Peacemaker

3 SUMMARY OF THE BOOK About Chief Leader Hiawatha whose village gets burned down and he loses his wife and three daughter. He is very anger and know Chief Tadodaho was to blame for this. Hiawatha is visited by peacemaker who wants to stop all the fighting and have peace within the cultural. The set out and go to the chief leaders to join together to have peace. Everyone joins and agrees they need peace. They go up to leader Chief Tadodaho full of hatred for all he has done to them. The peacemaker explains the need peace not hatred. Have him feed the Chief Leader medicine to get rid of the evil in him. It works in the end they bury all of their weapons and agree to have peace. 5 QUESTIONS Question 1: Does the book tell a good story? Yes it does tells about all chiefs coming together and making peace with each other. Question 4: Is the historical interpretation sound? There are other books that have been written about Hiawatha. Questions 2: Is the story accurate and authentic in its historical details? This story is based off of Native American Legend. About leader name Hiawatha who has so much hate after leader Tadodaho destroys his village and kills his family and the peacemaker comes to him to stop the fighting. Question 5: Whose voices are missing? Woman and Children of the tribe. People who were Chief Leaders Question 3 : Is the language authentic to it time? NO its not it is written in today’s time. Question 6: Does the book provide insight and understanding into current issues as well as those in the past? Yes because there are still many wars being fought and needing more peace in world and less hatred.

6 LEARNING ACTIVITY 1 One activity teacher’s could use for this book is to have students think about what makes a person a peacemaker. Have them draw themselves on the poster. Have them think of ways they could be a peacemaker. The assessment will be on them understanding what a peacemaker is by making a poster about it.

7 ANOTHER TEACHING ACTIVITY FOR THIS BOOK Have students break into group and each group look up one of the chief of each nation. Have them make a flip book tell us about his achievements and significant on his tribe. 8 ACTIVITY 3 Have students to look at Map to see where the Hiawatha and Peacemaker had to travel to in their canoes to make peace. * Teacher would have the students make their own map of the route that they think was taken to get to each tribe in the canoe. * For assessment present it to the class.
