2. What would a global network look like? And is the network needed? First step: Define our audience.  What would the boundaries of a global network be? Would all countries be involved? At what level – down to the health center? Network of ministries and/or partners?  Consider appropriate languages and learning culture; Is the role of a global network to tailor materials or work with countries to ensure tailoring is done?  Should there be a global network focused on the core competencies and a regional network to support countries and adapt global level materials? Could help with cultural context and practicality of global-level materials/guidance

3. What would a global network look like? And is the network needed? Next: Think about what the network could be and how it might be useful.  Could it build on past experience and resources? For example, build on the WHO repository website of all training materials and extend it to include best practices of learning principles and methodologies Consider what can be reinforced through supportive supervision, and how could we use assessments as opportunity for on-the-job training  Could bring in new partners with innovative approaches and expertise from other fields, particularly the latest in educational development and blended learning Consider how global network could help make sure those at the country level know who to the resources are Work with search engines to ensure “public goods” are easily accessible  Could serve a quality control function (i.e. ensure blended learning - technology, practical reference tools, mentoring, etc.) and support accountability

4. What would a global network look like? And is the network needed? Next: Think about what the network could be and how it might be useful.  What would the scope of the network be? For a global network, could it focus on base materials around agreed upon core competencies? In-service versus pre- service? A facilitator guide and an adaptation guide (define a guide for the development process) would also be helpful tools Performance support and assessment tools (i.e. help desk, checklists, supportive supervision, feedback process, etc.) Link to HR and self-development processes in countries, other in-country academic institutions  Could improve quality of advice on immunization given to MoH, ICC, etc.  Could it have a role in continuous medical education  Could it play a role in changing learning culture

5. A Global Network: Build Collective Expertise Be specific about the global role –  Provide learning resource forum / platform / network Create a forum to facilitate sharing of training materials between countries  Link with regional networks that then support countries to adapt materials for their local context  Develop a cadre of trainer resource persons, through key institutions (WHO, immunization partner organizations, Gavi)  Focus on base materials around agreed upon core competencies, including best practices of learning principles and methodologies Produce materials on competency-based (rather than product-based) training/learning  Provide guidance on how to strengthen facilitation, adaptation of global resources, performance support and assessment (including professional development and continuing medical education) of immunization tools  Remaining question – How could local accreditation be done?
