8 Getting Through IPM Individual Incentives (Don’t do them all every day! Rotate them for variety.) –Brain Stickers for every 100 correct (cumulative) answers in Math (hand out while they’re working on their first lesson during next lab session) –Mouse Hand stickers for everyone who correctly answers 25 or more questions in their Reading lesson that day with a score of 65% or higher. ( we always do Reading first each day ) –Top Dog for hardest worker the day before. (1 Student gets to have a stuffed dog sit with them at their computer) Incentives: The Key to Success in SuccessMaker

9 After IPM is Completed Choose landmarks for the students to work towards. –250 Reading AND 300 Math Questions Attempted (Sign poster and free time next session) –600 Reading AND Math Questions Attempted (keep going up by 300’s) (Sign poster and free time next session) –Reaching Benchmark in Math OR Reading (separate rewards) (Certificate and free time next session) –Set Gains levels for rewards (.5 and 1.0) Incentives: The Key to Success in SuccessMaker

10 After IPM is Completed Use sticker charts for smaller groups of students. Give teacher a Last Session printout of students earning 90% or above for classroom reward systems. Use school reward tickets if there’s a school incentive system in place already. Incentives: The Key to Success in SuccessMaker

11 After IPM is Completed Students sign Hall of Fame out in the hallway. Un-announced sticker rewards or other little trinkets (keeps the kids working every time because they don’t know when a reward will be given, especially if you include 10 min. free games coupon once in a while) 10 min. whole class free computer time next session when everyone in the class earns 65% or higher on one or more lesson. 12 After IPM is Completed Certificates presented by Principal in homerooms. Certificates and golden mice trophies presented at school assemblies. Incentives: The Key to Success in SuccessMaker

13 Identifying Reward Students Easily Stand in a place where you can see report cards when they pop up. –Get students into the habit of turning around and watching for recognition from you before moving on to their next lesson. –In IR and RW, report cards show words at the bottom for 65% and higher. (3 words for 90% or higher) –Have students earning 90% or higher stand up. Run Last Session Reports –Customize to only pull activity from that day. –Sort to have percentage or number of questions in ascending order. 18 Other Ways to Keep Students Engaged After Reaching Benchmark Pearson recommends when students get within.5 of benchmark level in Reading Foundations to have students work 2 days/week in Foundations Reading Course and 1 day/week in RAP or RA at grade level. When students reach benchmark level, have students work 2 days/week in RA or RAP at grade level and 1 day/week in Foundations. Incentives: The Key to Success in SuccessMaker

19 Other Ways to Keep Students Engaged After Reaching Benchmark About a month or so after reaching benchmark in Reading, have students do mini research projects using the internet in place of one of their reading lessons. www.EnchantedLearning.com has wonderful basic researching scavenger hunts using their Little Explorer’s Dictionary.
