2 Scientists use many skills to gather information. Most science skills use your 5 senses: seeing, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting.

3  Observing - using your 5 senses  Measuring – compare unknown quantity with known quantity  Inferring – make conclusion based on facts without observations  Classifying – grouping like things  Organizing – put information in order  Researching – “re” again, “search” look for. Ex. Library work or experiments.  Communicating – sharing information, Ex. Teaching or writing.  Predicting – state ahead of time what you think will happen based upon what you already know.  Hypothesizing – suggested solution to problem based on what you already know.  Modeling – copy of what you are studying to help with understanding. Ex. Atomic model  Analyzing – study information carefully.
