EF 151 Team Project: Roller Coaster Gage Craig, Jordan Clark, And Alex Dreifke

Meet The Team and… The Machine The FLUME of DOOM

Stored Energy Initial Height.05 Meters End -.03 meters The change in height for the project is.53 meters so Energy Stored = (.53)(9.81)(.005) E =.026 J

Design and Construction Issues Our Construction process was entirely trial and error based, the entire project was basically one issue that had to be resolved at every turn. Meanwhile our design still has some issues. At the end of the first drop their is a tendency for the ball to get stuck. Their is also a point in the jump (shown) in which the ball will sometimes not make it out or exit in such a way as to miss the drop. These problem events occur often enough to be design flaws but little enough to allow for accurate runs

Conclusion There are some things we learned while doing this project Actual and theoretical are NOT the same Roller Coasters are far more exciting to ride than to make Duct tape can hold anything Springs sound like a good idea but the idea just doesn’t resonate with reality Power tools are good fun PVC smells bad when you saw through it Jordan’s knife is sharper than mine Lists help to kill time in presentations Collisions are easy to add but are dynamic There is no such thing as a perfect creation of foam, tubing, and duct tape 15 seconds is a long time
