2 The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross- disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context. Description: This assignment is designed to allow the future educator to observe a functioning PE class under the instruction of a movement educator. This assignment will allow the observer to gain insight into the PE environment. Rationale: Through completion of this assignment I was able to gain a better understanding of the varied tasks the physical education teacher is responsible for. I was also able to further my knowledge of physical education and retain ideas for future movement activity instruction. INTASC STANDARD #7 Planning for Instruction

3 BACKGROUND Boone Meadows Teacher: Joann Lamaster  No PE teacher, Mrs. Lamaster is movement educator for her 1 st grade class.  First year teaching elementary, previously Pre-K  Class size averages 25-30  Zionsville School Corporation Pleasant Grove Teacher: Lisa Gudmundson  Goes by Mrs. G, is PE teacher for entire elementary  First year teaching PE, taught Special Ed for 15 years  Class size average 25-30  Center Grove School Corporation

4 OBSERVATION Boone Meadows  Mrs. Lamaster uses whistle to gain attn.  Put children aside who were not being “team players”  Stopped activity for children to calm down Pleasant Grove  Speaks loudly or uses clapping to gain attn.  Called out children who were acting up as a reminder  Played game integrating reading and physical activity
