2 Autism Sunday Autism Sunday is known as the International Day of Prayer for Autism & Asperger’s Syndrome – it is held on the second Sunday in February every year. Our FBA Autism Ambassadors will be involved in the Havering Autism Sunday Service at St.Alban’s Church in Romford on Sunday 14th February. Miss Johnson will be with the FBA Chamber Choir who are also involved in the service.

3 What is Autism? A mental condition, present from early childhood where autistic children with difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language.

4 The Autism Community Did you know that autism is much more common than many people think, there are around 700,000 people in the UK with autism. There are over 67 million people with autism around the world. There are 1,412 people with autism in the London Borough of Havering. Did you also know that there are more autistic boys than girls around the world.

5 Autism Sunday Autism Sunday was first held in 2002 during Autism Awareness Year in the United Kingdom. A historic service was held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London attended by over 600 people including parents, carers, children and adults with autism. This picture of St. Paul’s Cathdral was drawn by a brilliant British artist called Stephen Wiltshire who has autism.

6 A Global Event for Autism
Autism Sunday is now a global event, celebrated around the world. It all started in Essex in the United Kingdom in It is one of the oldest events for autism in the world.

7 What has Autism Sunday got to do with Valentine’s Day?
Valentine’s Day is a day to show love, so show love to every autistic person by raising awareness of the condition and helping autism charities. Autism Sunday is all about love - just like Valentine’s Day. Think about the children and young people of your age who need help and support and ‘speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves.’
