2 Superman Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1933 Both came from a family of Jewish Immigrants Siegel’s father died of a heart attack during a robbery The Death of his father prompted the creation of Superman (creating an all-powerful being when they felt powerless) Originally created as a bald telepathic villain but wasn’t successful Later modeled the hero on Douglas Fairbank Sr. and Clark Kent on Harold Lloyd and Joe Siegel Lois Lane modeled after Siegel’s wife

4 Became the new symbol of the American way A symbol of hope for the oppressed and working class He represented American values and was relatable Led to the creation of the Golden Age of Comics Led to the creation of others popular characters For a lot of people, Superman is and has always been America's hero. He stands for what we believe is the best within us: limitless strength tempered by compassion, that can bear adversity and emerge stronger on the other side.
