1 Workshop A: Introduction to the Healthy Schools Enhancement Model This session will give an overview of the Annual Review and the new Healthy Schools Enhancement Model

2 Ofsted Grade Descriptor: A2.7 The extent to which pupils adopt healthy lifestyles: Outstanding (1) Almost all groups of pupils have a great deal of knowledge and understanding of the factors affecting many aspects of their physical and mental health and emotional well-being. Many pupils have adopted healthy lifestyles. Many groups, including those most at risk, are very keen to take action to improve their health and enthusiastically take up activities to do so. A wide range of pupils respond positively to the school’s health promotion strategies and are themselves ambassadors for health promotion when talking to others.

3 Workshop Objectives By the end of this session: 1.The delegates will gain an overview of the Annual Review and guidance on completing it 2.The delegates will gain an overview of the Healthy Schools Enhancement Model 3.The delegates will consider how to move their school forward with healthy schools work.

7 Timescales for Registering for National Healthy School Enhancement Schools who achieved NHSS: Up to December 2006 – have until January 2011 to register for enhancement Up to December 2007- have until December 2011 to register for enhancement Up to December 2008 – have until December 2012 to register for enhancement January 2009 onwards have 3 years to register for enhancement A school must have current National Healthy School Status in order to move on to the National Healthy School Enhancement Model
