Secularism’s Rejection of God

 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and *unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in *unrighteousness  because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. (NASB95)

 The Greek noun adikia refers to “injustice, unrighteousness” [Thomas].  BDAG say describes “(1) an act that violates standards of right conduct, wrongdoing; (2) the quality of injustice, unrighteousness, wickedness, injustice.”

 According to BDAG, “in general ἀ σέβεια is understood vertically as a lack of reverence for deity and hallowed institutions as displayed in sacrilegious words and deeds: impiety; its corollary ἀ δικία refers horizontally to violation of human rights.”

 The Unrighteous are Careless (Luke 13:22-30).  The Unrighteous are Corrupt (Rom. 1:28-32).  The Unrighteous are Covetous (Acts 1:15-22; 8:18-24; 2 Pet. 2:12-16).  The Unrighteous are Deceptive (2 Thess. 2:7- 12).  The Unrighteous are Destructive (James 3:1- 6).

 God will raise the wicked (Acts 24:14-16).  God will judge the wicked (Rom. 2:4-11; Col. 3:25; 2 Pet. 2:9).

 God Has Done His Part  Man Must Do His Part

 Divine Justice (Matt. 20:13; Rom. 3:5-6; 9:14; Heb. 6:10).  Divine Mercy (Matt. 5:43-45; Heb. 8:12)  Divine Provision (John 7:14-18; 1 Pet. 3:18)  Divine Pardon (1 John 1:9; 5:16-17).

 We must avoid self righteousness (Luke 18:9- 14).  We must abstain from unrighteousness (Rom. 6:12-13; 2 Tim. 2:19).  We must obey the gospel message (1 Cor. 6:9-11).  We must live according to the rule of love (1 Cor. 13:4-7).  We must be willing to suffer injustice (1 Cor. 6:1-8; 1 Pet. 2:18-20).
