I. Introduction
A. Jesus challenged by the Scribes.

2. 1. Anyone could say that sins were forgiven.
a) Jesus had the power of God to heal.
B. Jesus called Matthew.
1. Jesus dining with “sinners”.

3. a) Questioned Jesus’ integrity.
(1)  Jesus’ response:

4. a) Jesus will explain.
III. Matthew 9:15
A. Fasting = giving up something that takes our time from seeking the Lord.
1. Disciples needed to ask Jesus for direction.

5. B. Fasting a sign of sorrow.
1. John in prison and followers full of sorrow.
2. Jesus was with His disciples.
a) A time of rejoicing!
3. When Jesus would be taken away the fasting would resume.

6. IV. Matthew 9:16-17
A. “old garment” = the Law of Moses!
1. He had not come to “patch it”.
a) A new work!

7. (a) Jesus trying to help John’s disciples understand.

(1)  All of these things happened.
(2)  When message first got to Jesus – she was alive.
(a) Jesus has a different viewpoint.

1. He often send others to minister to also.
a) See these as divine appointments?
B. Contrast of darkness and light.

10. 1. Only 12 years and her life has gone.
2. The other - 12 years of illness.
a) Jesus to put the light back into both!
b) The OBJECT of her faith with her faith
VII. Matthew 9:23-26

11. A. Official mourning had started!
1. Was she dead?
a) Jesus healed this girl with no faith on her part.
b) Any faith had to have been Jairus’.

12. (1) Jesus touched the little girl.
(i) Touch Jesus or let Him touch you.
VIII. CONCLUSION
