Today’s Sermon: Mark 12:18-34: “Some Sadducees Come To Jesus To Try To Confound Him With A Hypothetical Question, Then A Scribe Asks Him What Is The Greatest Commandment” by Pastor Jim Bomkamp

Outline of today’s msg: 1. Jesus has some Sadducees come up to Him to test Him with a question this time in a question about marriage in the age to come. 2. A scribe asks Jesus a sincere question about which commandment is the greatest of all.

Mark 12:18-27: Some Sadducees come up to Jesus and ask Him a hypothetical trick question about marriage in the future life

Who were the Sadducees?

The Levirate Law: Deuteronomy 25:5-10

The two errors of the Sadducees in asking these questions: 1. They didn’t understand the scriptures. 2. They didn’t understand the power of God.

Mark 12:28-34: A scribe asks Jesus a question about which commandment is the greatest of all

What does the first commandment really mean to us?

Conclusions: 1. Remember that if you are God’s friend in this life that this means that you shall always be with Him, for He has no friends who are not eternal. 2. Love the Lord with all of thy heart, mind, will, and strength. Love your neighbor as yourself. 3. Keep your eyes fixed on the hope of eternal life that we have promised to us after this life.
