2 Student Association Structure ALL STUDENTS are members of the SA Voting members: – Executive Committee – College Presidents – College Senators Standing Committees: – Academics, Student Life, Environmental New Student Representatives

3 Goals for 2011-2012 1.Improve COMMUNICATION with the student body 2.Maintain strong connection with all UNIVERSITY OFFICES 3.Enhance ACCESSIBILITY of the SA: – Serve as student forum – Increase active participation from all students 4.Empower students to take INITIATIVE on campus- wide issues 5.Enhance COLLABORATION with residential colleges and student organizations

5 Engage Offices/Programs 1.Academics: – Writing/Communication Program (Faculty Senate) – Student engagement, professional development with alumni (CCD) – Language Program (School of Humanities) – SA/GSA Research Mixer – New minors (Comm. for Undergrad Curriculum) – Esther improvements (Registrar)

6 Engage Offices/Programs 2.Student Life: – Centennial Celebration – RechargeU (Student Center) – Sammy’s Picnic (Athletics) – Ring Tradition (Alumni Affairs) – Student Dining (Housing & Dining)

7 Engage Offices/Programs 3.Environmental: – Water conservation (FE&P) – Bike share program – Recycling initiatives – Outer loop tree-root painting – Houston-wide recycling event (spring)

8 Engage Students & Colleges Residential colleges: sharing “Best Practices” – Intellectual Programming, College Courts, Associates Program, Community Standards Student organizations: – RPC, RSVP, KTRU Student involvement: – Initiatives: newspapers, alcohol education, Rice in a Box, WikiRICE, Owl List – Committees: Univ Standing Comm, Senior Committee, RMC Renovations

9 Engage University ALFA Committee Governmental Relations Board of Trustees Leadership Campaign: promote student leadership!
