3 Exam  Midterm (65 points)  Objective and subjective questions –From lectures, labs, and readings –40 Multiple Choice - 2 pts each = 80 pts –10 T/F - 1 point each = 10 pts –2 of 3 Identification/Short Answer = 5 each = 10 pts  100 exam pts will be converted back to 65 class pts.

4 Exam covers  Importance of Public Opinion and different definitions of concept  Public Opinion’s Relationship to Politics and Policy Making  Philosophical and normative conceptions of public opinion  Socio-historical history of changes in notion of public opinion  Psychological roots of public opinion - attitudinal and cognitive  Context effects in survey measurement and what they tell us.  Sociological theories of public opinion - cause and consequence  Theories of social norms, social networks, and social influence  The concept of a rally effect and its importance for public opinion  Know name and order of major philosophers and scholars, not dates
