3 Office of International Research, Education, and Development, Virginia Tech SANREM Knowledge Base (SKB) The SKB is a key component of the SANREM CRSP All SANREM participants are required to document the information resources they contribute to SA & NRM knowledge (articles, reports, books, presentations, photos, videos, extension and training materials, etc.) http://www.oired.vt.edu/sanremcrsp/menu_information/knowledgebase.php

8 Office of International Research, Education, and Development, Virginia Tech Research Reports and Publications SANREM CRSP Knowledge and Information Products for Decision Makers should be documented in the SKB disseminated widely SANREM CRSP partners may hold data sets for up to two years before release to facilitate publication and scholarly activities, but ultimately all SANREM CRSP generated data must be made available to the public with proper documentation (metadata) so that it can be used by others. Working Papers and journal articles Research Briefs; Technical Reports; etc. Use local languages as appropriate

10 Office of International Research, Education, and Development, Virginia Tech IRB – Institutional Review Board Human Subjects protection Must be submitted for your university and partner institutions (according to their policies) School won’t award degrees for students whose work was not IRB approved Some journals won’t publish USAID projects where human subject is not at risk have exempt status Only need to get verbal consent for survey subjects
