Mărginean et al., PLB 633 (2006) 696  The R(E4/E2) ratio for the heavy Fe isotopes is very close to the 2.50 value characteristic of  -soft rotors (S. Lunardi et al., PRC 76, 034303 (2007))  58 Cr lies exactly at the 2.20 value predicted for the E(5) dynamical symmetry. The energies of the yrast band are in good agreement with the predictions. Fioretto - LNL20 Elastic scattering reaction below Coulomb barrier 58 Ni+ 197 Au @ 160 MeV, PRISMA @ 55°  the heavy recoils simulate typical ERs without the complications of a 0° measurement  cross sections are known, so it is an ideal case for validating the simulations  it is also possible to measure the position spectrum of the “beam”  Measurements  varying the dipole field, for each pressure centering the “ER” onto the FPD  varying the quadrupole field for best transmission and resolution  different gas pressures (1 mbar and 3 mbar)  tests with different gas would also be of interest

Fioretto - LNL24 AGATA (Advanced GAmma Tracking Array) Highly segmented HPGe detectors · · Reconstruction of tracks Digital electronics Reconstructed  -rays Identification interaction points (x,y,z,E,t) i PSA to decompose recorded waves Ingredients 180 hexagonal crystals 3 shapes 60 triple clusters all equal Inner radius 24 cm Amount of germanium 362 kg Solid angle coverage 82 % 6480 segments Efficiency at 1 MeV: 43% - 28% (M  =1-30) Peak/Total: 58% - 49% (M  =1-30) Innovative use of detectors (PSA,  - ray tracking, digital DAQ) will result in high efficiency and excellent energy resolution, making AGATA the ideal instrument for spectrosco-pic studies of weak channels.
