3. Tides Twice everyday the Bay fills and empties of its 100 billion tones of water, creating the highest tides in the world. The height of the tide can reach 16 meters (53 ft.) With such movement on the Bay’s shores, dramatic cliffs and awesome sea stacks are developed. The wearing away has revealed fossils from over 300 million years ago.
