5 Definition: When the Earth is directly above the equator, the length of day and night is nearly equal all over the world. Extra Fact: These occur during the spring and fall season Spring Equinox is March 21 and Autumn Equinox is September 21.

6 Definition: When the Sun reaches its greatest distance north or south of the equator. Marks the longest/shortest days of the year. Extra Fact: These occur during the sinter and summer season. The Summer Solstice is June 21 and the Winter Solstice is December 21. In the northern hemisphere June 21 is the longest day of the year and December 21 is the shortest. It is opposite in southern hemisphere.
