3 In their early career, the Beatles were known as “The Silver Beatles”. They played in a place called The Cavern in Liverpool. It was often so crowded you couldn’t get near the stage.

4  At first the Beatles often had to borrow instruments to perform because they didn’t have their own. They had to play for long hours for very little pay.

5  The Beatles began by playing songs by other artists, but soon began to write their own music and lyrics. John Lennon and Paul McCartney are one of the best-known song writing pairs of all time.

6 The Beatles’ music has been around for over four decades but it is still enjoyed by people of all ages.

7  The Beatles did not just influence the music world. They also changed the way teenagers in the 1960’s dressed and wore their hair.
