7. www.saferhealthcarenow.ca Falls Facilitated Learning Series Lessons Learned on Sustaining Falls Improvement Work during Action Period When I first became aware of the LLSF, I believed that it would offer an educational opportunity for all staff through webinars. After being discouraged, I contacted Nadine, who provided me with the direction needed. The program is designed to build upon already existing structures such as initial and ongoing assessments. However the data interpretation is a strong indicator of where you need to go. For us it was increased awareness of prevention through the walking program, increase Resident/ family/staff awareness of preventative measures such as hip protectors and exercise program participation, and how to ultimately get staff participation and awareness increased by simply have a post fall huddle and documented this information for reference to assist in future occurrences.

Our small facility size reducing the amount of time staff are able to participate and it falls on the lead to make initiatives at team meetings and during educational opportunities. Facilitators include education and participation of Residents, families, and staff in existing programs and awareness of the preventative benefits of participation.
