1 Water Cycle Game

2 Background Information:
Water movement depends on energy from the sun (radiant energy) and gravity. Sometimes water does not go anywhere. Most movement takes place when water is in the form of water vapor, with molecules moving rapidly and apart from each other.

3 What to do: Line up at your assigned station.
The first person in line rolls the cube to find out where to move. If you move as a liquid, move with person in line behind you. If you move as vapor, move alone. If you roll a stay, go to the back of the line. The next person in line will roll the cube, and continue on. If you need to move as a liquid, and there is no one behind you, then stay until someone moves to the station, and then move. Record your path as you move – use arrows to show how you move from station to station. When you have to stay in part of the cycle put an “X” at that cycle to show you did not move.

4 Think about it: Why did you move in pairs to represent liquid water and alone to represent water vapor? Answer using a complete sentence. Where did you spend most of the time? Answer using a complete sentence. What does your answer to question 2 tell you about the water cycle on our planet? Answer using a complete sentence.
