7 Head Prefect Team The Head Prefect Team are each responsible for a different area of school life and lead a group of senior prefects. A key responsibility will be leading that group - planning the year, ensuring prefects have a clear idea of their roles, meeting with them regularly, reporting on progress. The Head Prefect Team will meet with the School’s Senior Management Team and their Head of Year on a regular basis. The Head Prefect Team will receive leadership training.

8 Head Boy The Head Boy will lead the Head Prefect Team
The Head Boy will ensure the Head Prefect Team have a clear sense of their roles and report on overall progress The Head Boy also represents the school on key ceremonial occasions such as Open Day, Remembrance Day, Prizegiving and Founders Day.

9 The Different Roles … Teaching & Learning: each school subject, or in some cases pairs of subjects, has a prefect. The scope of the role for a given year would be negotiated with the relevant Head of Dept at the commencement of the year. Duties will vary from dept to dept, but might include helping with a Club or running competitions associated with that dept. Student Welfare: one prefect to work with each Head of Year in Years Typical duties might include helping with the projects in a particular year, like the Apprentice or an anti-bullying campaign. Additional role for helping with transition of new, external 6th formers.

10 The Different Roles … Community: roles which benefit the community and promote a safe and pleasant environment for all - including Recycling, Lost Property and the Playground Environment. Workshop: running the school’s very successful and long-running ‘Workshop’ – which helps younger students with their work. Houses: supporting the member of staff responsible for running the House system, and promoting charity events in the school year.

11 The Different Roles … Events: helping to co-ordinate key events in the School Calendar, such as the Year 6 Fun Day, Prizegiving, Founders’ Day Student Voice: running the School Council and developing new ways of encouraging students to have a say in the School. Fun: planning and delivering some new, fun features to school life. This not having fun; this is creating fun.

12 Complete Written Application Form
The Process… Complete Written Application Form You indicate role preferences (HB? HPT? SP?) You support your application with evidence of suitability and your ideas for approaching the role(s)

13 The Process… 2. Voting Staff and Year 12 students vote for 10 students from the list of applicants Staff and student votes weighted 50/50 50 prefects in total will be selected based upon i) the vote and ii) the strength of applications.

14 The Process… 3.The Head Prefect Team
On the basis of the vote and the strength of written applications, a shortlist is compiled for the Head Prefect Team. Only candidates who expressed interest in the HPT roles are included at this stage. Interviews are held and a team of 10 are appointed.

15 The Process… 3.The Head Boy
Once the Head Prefect Team is appointed, a shortlist of between 2 and 4 candidates is selected for the role of Head Boy, based upon the vote, strength of applications and the interviews. Only candidates who expressed an interest in the role of Head Boy are included. Hustings will be held in main assembly and each form in the school will be allocated one vote in the election of Head Boy.

16 What next …. ? Complete an application form by 9am on Monday 22nd February am. Electronic copy to and hard copy to Mrs Cooper. Application forms will be available from your form tutor tomorrow. .
