1 Predator/Prey Storyboard 8 th Grade Science 2014 You will NEED: 1.A blank lined sheet of notebook paper 2.Your notes about Populations and Ecosystems (vocabulary and relationships) 3.A pencil 4.Colored Pencils/Crayons (you can borrow mine) You will DO: 1.Identify the four most important things that happen during a predator/prey relationship 2.Create a four panel storyboard that includes pictures and descriptions to tell the story of a predator/prey relationship

2 DUE DATE You will have class time today and time after the quiz tomorrow to work on your storyboard The final storyboard is due this THURSDAY, April 17 th.

3 Design Your Story! Step 1: Read over your notes (you can also use the textbook to help you) Step 2: On your cause and effect paper, list the four (4) most important things that happen during a predator/prey relationship ◦ Make sure you include the starting population of all involved species, identification of the predator and the prey, how the populations change and the end result of the predator/prey relationship

4 Let’s do the First One Together… What are two species that could interact in an ecosystem? ◦ How many individuals of each species are present in the population?

5 Setting Up Your Storyboard Step 1: Fold a blank lined sheet of paper hot dog style toward the inner red line Step 2: Write “Predator/Prey Storyboard” on the red line Step 3: Fold paper to create 4 boxes (8 boxes total)- See example: Predator/Prey Storyboard

6 Design Your Story! Step 3: In the top four boxes on the front of your paper, draw an illustration to represent each of the four important things that happen during a predator/prey relationship ◦ These should be appropriate, meaningful, and COLORED Step 4: In the bottom four boxes, write a caption for each picture. ◦ This caption must be AT LEAST one complete sentence ◦ This caption must explain what is going on in the picture
