Introduction to the robotic arm

 A robotic arm is a machine that can perform functions similar to that of a human.  These functions are performed with pre- written programs and no human interaction.

 Robots are used in many different environments and professions.  Robots are used for repetitive motion or activities that have a high risk for humans. Some places where robotic arms are used.  Medical  Manufacturing  Underwater  Space  Explosive ordnance disposal  Welding

 The Da Vinci surgical system  Used to perform precise and surgical procedures.

 Robotic arms are often used to build complex products.  Most every car is now manufactured with the use of many robotic arms.  Increase in product quality and reduction in workforce cost.

 Robots with arms are often used to perform work deep within the ocean.  Underwater robots were used to cap the leaking oil well in the Gulf of Mexico.

 Robotic arms have been used by NASA for many years to perform operations in space.  Satellite deployment and in space repairs often use a robotic arm.

 Law enforcement and military units around the world use robots.  These robots save human life!

 Robotic arms allow for faster and better quality welds.  The picture to the left shows multiple robotic arms welding the floor pan of a car.
