3 Meaning: a benefit; something that helps you get ahead; edge
Example: The tutoring sessions gave me an advantage on the math test. Being physically fit gives a person an advantage regardless of the sport they play. advantage (noun)

4 Meaning: a job a student works at to gain experience and work skills
Example: During my internship at the local newspaper I learned to write catchy headlines. Working an internship is a good way to gain experience before you have to find a real job. internship (noun)

5 Meaning: half of a school year, usually about four months long
Example: The science classes get assigned one huge project each semester. The marks from the first two quarters combine to give you the grade for the semester. semester (noun)

6 coordination (noun) Meaning: the art of working together smoothly
Example: The more you practice using your hockey stick, the better your coordination will be during the actual game. Coordination is part natural ability and part repetition of the target skill. coordination (noun)

7 Meaning: the amount of money a person earns; money brought in
Example: I can earn a decent income with a job as a computer programmer. In order to save money, you must have an income that is greater than what you spend on bills and expenses. income (noun)

8 grueling (adjective) Example:
Meaning: tiring; difficult; requiring an excessive amount of determination Example: The last part of the hike was grueling because we had to climb up a muddy, icy mountain side. Running a full marathon, 26.2 miles, is a grueling adventure. grueling (adjective)

9 prefer (verb) Meaning: to like better than something else Example:
I prefer bringing my lunch to school over buying it in the cafeteria. Would you prefer doing your homework late at night or early in the morning? prefer (verb)

10 supportive (adjective)
Meaning: ready to help out; understanding Example: My family is very supportive of my dream of becoming a gymnast. Our coaches and teachers at Eisenhower are very supportive of student athletes. supportive (adjective)
