1 Occupational Course of Study OCS 2010-11 School Year

2 Classes Required  4 English  3 Math  2 Social Studies  2 Science  1 Health & PE  6 Occu-Prep classes  4 CTEs (Career Technical Education)  Electives (6) = Total of 28 credits

3 Other Requirements  Completion of a Portfolio  Completion of IEP goals  Completion of Computer Goals  Interview

4 TESTING  English 1 EOC (9 th grade)  Algebra 1 EOC (10 th grade)  Biology 1 EOC (10 th /11 th grade)  Writing Test (10 th grade) OCS students are not required to make a level III or IV. Test grade does not count 25% of final grade.

5 2012-13  New Extend 2 Tests are suppose to be available  Will they count towards graduation? Probably not since the current state tests do not count for the other students. – S. Beene’s opinion

6 Work Hours Required  300 on campus hours  240 off-campus, internship  360 Competitive Volunteer hours only count if state department allows exception for that year of graduates. 2011 and 2012 graduates have received exception.

7 Teacher of Record  North Carolina Virtual School  Inclusion in Regular class room  EC teachers who are certified in the area they are teaching  Others?

8 IEPs  Parent Signature required- Use Worksheet to document  Computer Proficiency Sheet  Setting – Pull out for OCS classes  Testing for 3 EOCs & Writing Test  Parent Signature required on IEP  Benchmarks/Short Term Objectives not required in more than one Annual Goal. SCOS goal required if testing that year.
