2.  Over the course of the semester, students come to see the relationship between  Reading the text  Responding to and Interpreting it  Discussing it in class  Writing about it

3.  That students appreciate the challenges involved in textual interpretation and  Develop strategies for reading and interpreting in meaningful ways

4.  Texts embody cultural values and  Are products of their time and place  Students should be open and receptive to the material we are reading in the class and  Have moments of “passionate engagement” with these texts.
