3 The Act identifies General Services Administration (GSA) as the lead agency with help from Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE) in the sustainability area. 3

4 Public Law 111-308 enacted 15 December 2010. Requires: Federal and contractor personnel performing building operations and maintenance, energy management, safety, and design functions to comply with requirements under the Public Law. Identification of course(s), certification, degree, license, or registration for core competencies and for ongoing training. 4

8 An individual can be responsible for a “core competency area” or a specific “individual core competency”. An individual does not have to be physically located at a facility to be responsible for the job functions that fall under a core competency. An individual shall demonstrate compliance with the individual core competency associated with their job function. 8

11 Federal personnel will be able to create an account to load information related to his/her certifications, degree, etc. Website will provide links to courses, certifications, degrees, etc. to fill core competency gaps Website will provide agencies and private sector companies on how to get their courses, certifications, degrees, and etc approved. 11

12 Ability to do more as budgets are getting smaller. Increase the respect of the profession. Clarify the profession. Identify a platform for training. 12
