2 2 ● To be reprocessed, because some important information was missing. ● Corinne Burlaud leaved the team at the end of September 2010. 0) STAFF management 1) STAFF-SC DWF ● At the end of September 2011, Rodrigue Piberne is not still hired !!! ● Block status has been added to indicate a true time or an interpolated time. ● The whole L1 data base will be remade with same Ted version and Tcor ON (given in DWF files). ● A part of the software has been re-written to be clearer and more efficient : - factor 2.5 on C decommutation program. - factor 11 (NBR) or 7 (HBR) for TFN program producing interpolated DWF. ● ONE YEAR without ESA support due to administration problems in France. ● A new software is currently used to produce DWF. 14th CAA Cross-Calibration meeting, York, 5-7 Oct 2011

3 3 2) STAFF-SC new calibration tables ● A great effort has been done by the technical staff to correct the transfer function of S/C 2,3 & 4. Previous bad estimate was due to a distortion (with time) of the Helmholtz's coils devices used to estimated the transfer function. ● For S/C1, there is nothing to do (FM5, spare of 1 st mission). Average of 3 other will be taken. ● Technical staff has computed a correction function to apply to the cal tables. ● New calibration system is currently updated for further mission (MMS…). ● Preliminary results are given hereafter.

Khotyaintsev, P. Robert, B. Grison, A. Tenerani) 7) STAFF-SC -EFW timing / Poynting vector Poynting vector computation has been done with correct results but some more work remain to be done.

10 10 ● production chain of DWF has been entirely revised and optimized, with new inputs. Production will start at very short term. DWF STAFF-EFW timing ● Poynting vector computation has been done with correct results but some more work remain to be done. Manpower ● sudden C. Burlaud leave has desorganized the team but a special effort has been done to continue activities and software development. Nevertheless, one year without external support was very hard to live. SA PPP ● despite several bugs and computer problems, production software is finally operational and delivery will follow as soon as validation will be done. 14th CAA Cross-Calibration meeting, York, 5-7 Oct 2011 8) Conclusions (1) CWF ● despite a lack of dedicated manpower, CWF software has been successfully optimized and is ready for production, immediately after new DWF

11 11 Conclusion (2) ● Sensitivity, noise instrument, minimum signal recordable versus frequency, etc… have to be defined accurately (already planned action). ● Cross calibration between STAFF-SC/HBR and STAFF-SA must be refreshed after STAFF-SC transfer function correction,. ● Continuity of sensitivity, noise instrument etc… must be checked between STAFF-SC and STAFF-SA. using recent special Burst mode operations Don’t forget: many things remain to be done (but with low priority): Roproc software ● Allow calibration of DWF, spectrograms computation, wave polarisation parameters etc... (used to produce plots available on http://cluster.lpp.polytechnique.fr/accueil/framepa.html ) ● works on STAFF-SC L1, L2, FGM CAA data ● Allow computation of Curl(B), div(B) etc...
