3 3 Current Provision  National Enterprise Allowance (NEA)  Work Choice – ends April 17.  Work Programme – end April 17.  Access to Work – increase in funding.  PC’s in every JCP.  NCS for CV’s.  Day 1 conditionality.  Basic skills and ESOL screening  Flexible support fund

4 Jobcentre Plus objectives  The key objectives of the Jobcentre Plus Offer are to:  achieve increased numbers of working age people in work  reduce the number of workless households  reduce child poverty  encourage claimants in workless households to achieve successful and sustainable entry into employment  help progression to better and/or full-time work for claimants already working part time  to ensure that claimants who are not yet ready to return to work (including Lone Parents with young children, and carers) receive an appropriate level of support to ensure they are prepared to return to the labour market at the right time. 4

5 Berkshire Working-age claimant groups*

6 6 Needs in Berkshire  50+ claimants.  Fits with benefit conditionality.  Digital by default.  Employers perceptions, wexp really works.  Training with employers needs at heart.

7 Gaps in Provision  Locally delivered i.e. in Maidenhead and Newbury or rural locations.  Multi agency approach – i.e. ESF provision for multiple families.  Pre – NEA.  Post April 17, long term claimants.  UC – supporting those in work to increase hours and career.  ESOL – long term support.  Offenders – those not registered with probation. 7
