20 Main Ideas:  The ability to walk on two feet (biped) allowed hominids to carry things in their arms such as food and children Early hominids evolved over millions of years. Each new hominid developed new abilities that helped them survive The ability to use tools allowed hominids to live better and longer lives.  Tools were for cutting, digging, smashing, and grinding.  Rock and sticks develop into more advanced tools made of bone then metal. Use of fire allowed hominids to migrate farther and survive longer Neanderthals developed communities
