7 The plan focuses on six health sector strategic objectives derived from the Kenya Health Policy 2012-2030  1) Elimination of communicable conditions  2) Reversing burden of NCDs  3) Reducing burden of violence and injuries  4) Provision of essential health services  5) Reduction of exposure to health risk factors &  6) Strengthening collaboration with health related sectors.

9  Increased life expectancy by 10%  Reduced infant mortality rate(per 1,000 live births)from 60 to less than 50  Reduce Maternal Mortality from 488 to less than 300/100,000  Increase percentage of women of reproductive age receiving family planning services from the current 49% to 80%  Increased awareness of non-communicable diseases health risk factors from 30% to 80%  Improved nutritional status, particularly micronutrient status among children and women;  Improved access to safe drinking water & basic sanitation from, 60% to at least 85%.  Increased proportion of TB patients completing treatment, from 85% to 90%  Increased proportion of eligible clients on ARV’s from 63% to 80%  Reduced mother to child transmission of HIV, from 8.1% to 2%  Reduced household expenditure on health, especially among the urban poor by 15%

14  Conduct capacity building workshops aimed at strengthening the health system generally and the uptake of Comprehensive Abortion Care.  Monitoring and contributing to budgetary appropriations debates to ensure that reproductive health care is adequately allocated funds;

15  In collaboration with the CHMT, conduct awareness trainings, workshops and seminars with community members on the reproductive rights of women, men and adolescents.  Engage and participate in the County’s health related technical working groups

16  Widen access to comprehensive RH services within the County, with emphasis and recognition of comprehensive abortion care as a pillar within the strategies to reduce maternal mortality in the County  Engage with KMA in collaborative efforts to ensure continuous training of health workers within the County on the Ministry of Health’s policy guidelines and relevant frameworks on comprehensive abortion care.

17  Alert KMA of any new developments within the reproductive health thematic area of the County including the introduction of bills within the County Assembly;  In collaboration with KMA, undertake research/ surveys and studies on the uptake on CAC within the County’s health facilities;

18  In collaboration with KMA, develop adolescent- friendly IEC materials on reproductive health for onward dissemination during trainings;  Incorporate a mutually agreed representative from the KMA Reproductive Health Committee as member of the County’s Technical Working Group on reproductive health;  In collaboration with KMA, undertake values clarification and attitude transformation trainings for all members of the County Health Management Team.
