How 214 Works…

Entering/Exiting the Classroom Entering SMILE! It makes people wonder what you’re thinking about… Turn in homework on the back cabinet! Exiting In order to leave class, the room should look the same way it did when you entered. Pick up after yourself! The bell does not dismiss you, I do Packing up before the bell = extra time in class, loss of passing period time

Getting Started Make sure you turned in your homework! Get out your composition book and begin working on the bell-work activity When you’re finished: silent reading

Turning in Assignments Assignments should be turned in before class begins (the bell rings). You should not be finishing up homework during bell-work time. Turn in assignments in the “Turn In” tray on the back table

What to do if you’re absent… If you missed class- check the folders on the wall! Each day has a set of folders for each class. Check the day, find the folder for your class, and find your assignment. Example: Susie Q, from 2 nd period English, was absent on Wednesday. What procedure does she follow? If you missed notes, get them from a classmate. Once you have completed the absent work, turn it in to the “Late Work” box at the back of the room (even if it’s not late). If you missed a quiz or test, visit with me to set up a time to take it.

Grading Any assignment can be redone! You can retake any summative quiz/test (before or after school only!) Formative (practice) vs. Summative (performance) Just because “it doesn’t count” doesn’t mean that it doesn’t matter. Just as Olympic athletes can not win medals without practicing, you cannot do well on a test without studying.

How to Succeed in English Class Show up to class Practice Participate Do your best Follow procedures

How to Succeed in Drama Class Show up to class Practice Participate Perform Do your best Follow procedures
