2 THE SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD THE SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD EXPRESSES AN UNREAL, VIRTUAL OR POSSIBLE EVENT/STATE ( SOMETHING THAT IT IS NOT REAL). FOR REAL EVENTS/STATES, YOU SHOULD USE THE INDICATIVE MOOD. THERE ARE TWO CATEGORIES OF SUBJUNCTIVE: THE SYNTHETICAL SUBJUNCTIVE AND THE ANALYTICAL SUBJUNCTIVE. If only you could realize how important this is! ( Daca ti-ai putea da seama cat de important este acest lucru!) or If only you could have realized how important this is!( Daca ti-ai fi putut da seama cat de important e acest lucru!) back back

5 THE ANALYTICAL SUBJUNCTIVE: May/might +infinitive Should +infinitive Will/would can/could THE ANALYTICAL SUBJUNCTIVE: May/might +infinitive are used to express a wish (May you live long!), hope or fear (They were afraid they might miss the train), purpose( She left early so that she might catch the train). They are also used after as if, as though, it is probable/possible/likely and after wish. Should +infinitive is used after: it is necessary/essential/possible/out of question/high time/likely/a shame/a pity/odd/strange/fortunate;I regret;I’m sorry; I am glad / happy / surprised / annoyed;I see no reason why; there is every reason ex.
