12 Seahawks First Game… by Misha Stone The first Seahawks game took place on a chilly Saturday morning at the Chaney Football Field on April 14th. The game took a mere hour and a half to complete, but every moment was worth watching. Occasionally there was a mishap -such as running in the wrong direction- but either way the children participating had fun. By half time, the Steelers were leading 15 to 8. Both Seahawks touchdowns were made by Ahmad Marshall, who acted as the main running back for the team. After a quick two minute break with snacks and drinks provided by The Stone Family, the Seahawks members re-entered the game with an entirely new boost of energy and enthusiasm. During the second half, Ahmad scored another touchdown, which (at the moment) is the team’s highest record of touchdowns in a single game. In the end we lost, but with only six out of the ten on the team, the score ended well in a twenty-seven (Steelers) to fourteen (Seahawks). For the Seahawks first game, the team performed incredibly well, but there is always room for improvement! Week 1

13 A Near Win By The Seahawks by Misha Stone The second Seahawks game –taking place at the Wade Elementary field on April 21st- was a near win. With a few minutes of extra practice before the game, the team was pumped and ready for competition. In the first half, Seahawks quarterback, Michael Stone, passed the ball to Ahmad Marshall and he ran it half-way down the field but unable to reach the first down. The team played with aggressiveness and speed, unfortunately it was the Redskins who scored the first touchdown, making the score 0 (Seahawks) to 6 (Redskins). After the change of possession, Devin Ekel ran all the way to the five yard line. With this advance in the field, Ahmad scored a touchdown, making it an even score with 6 to 6. The run in for two points was made by Trenton Banks, which put the Seahawks in the lead. With the turnover, however, the Redskins scored once again, making the score twelve to eight. They did not get the 2-point conversion, and once the Seahawks received the ball our main running back - Ahmad - scored another touchdown. With the score at 12 to 14, the opposing team was put under a bit of pressure. Once again the Redskins scored -ahead of the Seahawks by four points- then ran in the ball successfully, making the score 20 to 14. Week 2

14 However Ahmad took the hand-off from Miles Carter and scored another touchdown, making the score even at 20 to 20. We did not get the 2 point conversion. With only seconds remaining in the first have, the Redskin running back galloped towards the end zone once again, but Ahmad beat them to it by taking the flag. At halftime, the team enjoyed Gatorade and Pringles from the Ekel Family while talking to each other about the game. Once drinks were all served, the team made a quick huddle and discussed strategies and what they need to take home the victory. When the halftime break was over, the defense, led by Dylan Ekel and Rickey Graham, went out onto the field. As hard as they tried, the Redskins scored, making the game 20 (Seahawks) to 26 (Redskins). The defensive team stopped the Redskins attempted 2-point conversion. With the change of possession, our team ran toward the end zone as Devin tried to score touchdown. Due to wet grass he slipped a few yards short of the end zone. With the team’s second attempt to score a touchdown, Trenton ran as quickly could but was tackled behind the line of scrimmage. Ah Finally we scored a touchdown on our third down by Ahmad, which evened the score out with 26 to 26. As if to make up for his previous trip, Devin completed the run in, putting the Seahawks ahead with 28. Unfortunately, the Redskins scored another touchdown, bringing their score up to 32. 15 In order to stop the Redskins from scoring additional points, the defensive team prevented them from scoring the run in. When we received the ball, we didn’t score a touchdown, but when the defense went back out we at least made sure the Redskins didn’t get a touchdown either. Ahmad and Jovan Walker combined to grab flags from Redskin’s running backs before they could get anywhere near the end zone. So in a last ditch attempt, the Redskins threw the ball. Caleb Quick and Demetrius Salley’s defensive effort forced the receiver to miss the pass, the ball bouncing onto the turf. With the call from the referee, the Seahawks got the ball back. Ahmad ran a touchdown, scoring 34 to 32. It is tight scoring game; it could be anybody’s game. When the opposing team got the ball, the defensive team made the Redskins offense work hard to score a touchdown, but in the end the final score was 40 (Redskins) to the Seahawks 34. With the game over, the Seahawks shook hands with the Redskins with their heads help up high. It was another close game, and all ten members of the team played their best and had a wonderful time playing flag football. Week 2 con’t
