2. Isaac Asimov was born in Russia in 1920, and he grew up in America. His career as a science fiction writer began in 1939. He wrote over 500 books, and won the Hugo Award four times and the Nebula Award once. He is probably most famous for his I Robot series of stories. Asimov created the Laws of Robotics that many scientists feel we should adhere to. He died in 1992 at the age of 72. 3. In 1921, Karl Capek wrote a play entitled Rossum's Universal Robots. In this play, man creates robots, but they rebel, kill and then control the humans. Capek wanted to call the robots "labori" but his brother suggested the term "robot" from robota, a Czech term for forced labor or serf. 4. Star Wars is an epic space opera franchise initially conceived by George Lucas during the 1970s and significantly expanded since that time. The first film in the franchise was simply titled Star Wars, but later had the subtitle Episode IV A New Hope added to distinguish it from its sequels and prequels.
