2. Background Density is the ratio of the mass and volume of a substance. Each substance has a specific value for density. If a substance floats in water, its density is less than that of water. If a substance sinks in water, its density is greater than that of water.

Procedure 1.You will find five liquids with different densities using the internet or textbook. 2.Gather those liquids that you have researched. 3.Slowly pour the most dense liquid into the container and continue until all five liquids have been added. The liquids should form layers. 4.Cap the container and write your name on it.
