4. What is our BIG IDEA? We are ‘changing’ tetra-pak cartons into wallets! Stopping tetra-pak cartons going into landfills – Our wallets make ‘change’ last. Through a technique of ‘origami’ we can manufacture wallets out of tetra-pak drinking cartons – this is a simple process with fantastic results.

Partners in Innovation Why is this idea achievable? 1 we already have carried out prototype design and are happy with the results 2 they are often non-recyclable due to the strip of aluminium in the packaging – this means they are not 100% plastic and it costs a lot of money to re-claim the strip from the product. 3 we have already used a business loan (50-00) to research costs etc and make some prototypes 4 we hope to be able to contact ‘juice’ manufacturers to fund / place our products commercially

Partners in Innovation Realistic planning & Research We got our idea from researching the internet; thought about it and came up with the wallet because: 1.it’s easy to make 2.it’s not going to cost us a lot of money 3.it’s going to be easy to sell – 99 pence 4.it’s easy to get the resources for the wallet

7. Partners in Innovation Why is this idea achievable? Financial Planning. 1 Resources are free 2 We just need a small float to finance first manufacturing round 3 It is then self financing 4 Profits can be very small

Circle of Influence. 1 We have already presented to a panel of experts at Sea-brooks – hoping to develop other products 2 We have shown it to Clare Young (28/03/11) 3 We want to present it to Supermarkets – they can advertise their name for free – we hope for some sponsorship.

Partners in Innovation What are the benefits associated with this idea? 1 The planet benefits from us not putting cartons into Landfill 2 We can count exactly how many ‘cartons’ we stop going into landfill every time we sell a product 3 We can use profits from the product to finance other Year 7 initiatives (things we want to do!)

10. Partners in Innovation Why is this idea clever? Competitors? Similar products? 1 It costs virtually nothing to make 2 It’s competition doesn’t have a moral theme – a lot of wallets are made out of leather. 3 It saves landfill
