2. The Super Coaster’s Design Utilizes a unique design based on simple household items and scrap wood. Note the sturdy background supports and triangular floor braces. Exterior pipe system utilizes the best in domestic technology. Paint Sticks are a unique and cost effective way to build the track.

Principles of Energy Mechanism utilizes the conversion of potential energy to kinetic energy Initially all of the object’s energy is stored as potential energy As the ball bearing proceeds on its way through the coaster initial potential energy is converted to kinetic energy There is a minimal loss of energy due to friction and a more substantial loss due to the impulse imparted upon the ball by the bumper

4. Construction and Design Wanted to make it simple yet effective. Attempted to use as few pre-built materials as possible… i.e. (tubing, corkboard) The use of sophisticated ramp technology allows the super coaster to utilize gravitational potential energy. Main challenges involved building the supports for the tubing.

5. Closing Thoughts! Learning experience… We learned that the design may look good on paper but holds little weight in reality. Our team managed to build a functional roller coaster that meets design specifications and is cost effective.
