23 At Robbinsdale MS in Robbinsdale, MN, the principal, John Cook, says he has worked to place teachers and coordinators in “strategic positions” and hopes to “empower them” by developing a shared belief system. Leadership and School Culture

24  At JW North HS in Riverside, CA, there are 16 sections of the AVID elective; 650 students are enrolled in the AVID elective. That is well over 20% of the student population enrolled in AVID.  At Sequoia HS in Redwood City, CA, there are two sections of the AVID elective per grade level, with the average class enrollment at 27. This is up from one section per grade level in 2009*. The increase in sections accounts for just over 10% of the student population enrolled in the AVID elective. 25 At Robbinsdale MS, they have designed an IBMYP Course Outline that asks teachers to specifically call out the WICOR strategies used in class, “AVID is both an everyday elective and a building wide initiative, incorporating AVID strategies throughout the day for all students.” School Culture and Professional Learning
